Federal Ministry of Education Launches Inspire Live(s) to Deliver Daily Online Classes Nationwide
The Federal Ministry of Education has rolled out a nationwide digital learning initiative called Inspire Live(s), providing real-time online classes to students across the country. The platform delivers daily live lessons for Junior and Senior Secondary School students, ensuring that learners in all regions can access consistent instructional content regardless of location. According to the Ministry, classes run every weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., taught by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.
Wide Range of Subjects for JSS and SSS Students
At the Junior Secondary School (JSS) level, the program offers subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Basic Science, Agricultural Science, ICT, Civic Education, French, History, and more.
For Senior Secondary School (SSS) students, available subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Technical Drawing, Civic Education, and several others.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Chief (Dr.) Maruf Tunji Alausa confirmed that the rollout is fully operational nationwide. He added that the platform will soon be extended to cover Primary 1 through Senior Secondary 3 as the implementation progresses.
Addressing Teacher Shortages and Inequality in Classroom Coverage
The Ministry highlighted that Inspire Live(s) addresses long-standing gaps in classroom coverage in several states, where many schools lack sufficient subject teachers. This shortage often leads to uneven access to core subjects throughout the school term.
By delivering centralised online lessons, students across all regions can now receive the same coursework at the same time, ensuring uniformity and improved access to qualified instruction.
Schools in remote or low-resource areas, especially those lacking teachers in specific subjects, can rely on streamed lessons for structured learning, keeping academic schedules consistent with national expectations.
Supporting Schools Through Centralised Instruction
The daily timetable allows schools to maintain regular routines. While lessons are delivered online by the Ministry’s instructors, local school staff supervise students throughout each session to ensure order and participation.
State-Level Coordination and Requirements for Schools
To support the rollout, the Ministry has directed Education Commissioners to appoint State Focal Officers who will coordinate program activities within their states.
Schools must:
- Share program information with principals
- Ensure ICT facilities are functional
- Provide reliable internet access for students
- Oversee the registration process via the Inspire support channels
The Ministry emphasised that the platform is open to all public and private schools nationwide.
Further details, inquiries, and participation guidelines are available through the Inspire website, where dedicated desk officers are on hand to assist schools. This announcement was made by Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education.
