Moniepoint Disburses ₦1 Trillion in SME Credit, Processes ₦412 Trillion in 2025
Moniepoint has disclosed that it disbursed more than ₦1 trillion in credit to Nigerian businesses and processed ₦412 trillion in transaction value in 2025, reinforcing its position as Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer.
The figures were published in the company’s 2025 Year in Review report, released to mark Moniepoint’s 10th anniversary. According to the company, Moniepoint now powers 8 out of every 10 in-person POS payments made across Nigeria.
SME Lending Drives Business Growth
Moniepoint said the ₦1 trillion in credit was issued through its microfinance banking subsidiary, supporting small businesses across multiple sectors, including:
- Provision stores
- Supermarkets
- Building materials merchants
The company noted that businesses that accessed its credit facilities recorded an average growth of over 36%, highlighting the impact of improved access to working capital.
To assess creditworthiness, Moniepoint relies on alternative data, including transaction history, payment behaviour, and business activity patterns, rather than traditional collateral-based models.
Moniepoint Processes Over 14 Billion Transactions
As Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer, Moniepoint reported processing more than 14 billion transactions in 2025, with a total transaction value of ₦412 trillion across its banking and payments infrastructure.
The company said its scale positions it to play a significant role in Nigeria’s long-term economic ambitions.
“This clearly suggests that Moniepoint is well-positioned to play a greater role in Nigeria’s steady march towards a trillion-dollar economy by 2030,” the report stated.
A Decade of Growth in Financial Infrastructure
Founded in 2015 by Tosin Eniolorunda and Felix Ike, Moniepoint Inc. (formerly TeamApt Inc.) operates an integrated financial platform that provides:
- Digital payments

The platform primarily serves small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) operating within Nigeria’s largely informal economy.

“Our journey has been one of intentional evolution. What started as a passion to solve overlooked problems has evolved into a platform powering the dreams of millions,” he said.
He added that with 83% of employment in Africa concentrated in the informal economy, Moniepoint’s focus on financial inclusion remains central to its strategy.
“Our mission to create financial happiness is an operational mandate that guides our product development, market expansion, and capital allocation decisions,” Eniolorunda said.

Moniepoint expanded its regulated offerings in 2025 with several key developments:

Separately, TeamApt Ltd, Moniepoint’s switching and processing subsidiary, secured Mastercard and Visa licences after completing certification processes. This allows the company to process international card payments directly and offer switching services to businesses across Africa.
Monnify and Public Sector Partnerships
Moniepoint’s web payment gateway, Monnify, processed ₦25 trillion in transactions during 2025, according to the report. Beyond commercial services, the company partnered with the Federal Government’s Rice Intervention Programme, reaching nearly 850,000 beneficiaries, and worked with the Kaduna State Government on grant disbursements to vulnerable citizens.
Looking Ahead to Moniepoint’s Second Decade
Despite the milestones achieved, Moniepoint says its mission remains ongoing. “Yet for all we have accomplished, we approach our second decade with the clarity that our work remains unfinished,” Eniolorunda said. “The journey is far from over, but our resolve has never been stronger.”
