Louis Vuitton Korea Confirms Customer Data Leak Following Systems Breach

Louis Vuitton Korea has confirmed that a systems breach in June 2025 led to the unauthorised access and leak of customer data, including contact details. The South Korean unit of the global luxury brand issued a formal statement on Friday acknowledging the incident.

The breach did not compromise financial information, according to the company, and immediate actions have been taken to strengthen system security and notify relevant authorities.

Customer Data Leak: What Happened?

In a statement released Friday, Louis Vuitton Korea said: “We regret to inform you that an unauthorised third party temporarily accessed our system, resulting in the leak of some customer information.”

The company became aware of the incident on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, and has since:

  • Informed South Korean government agencies
  • Implemented containment measures
  • Enhanced cybersecurity protocols

Financial Data Not Affected

Louis Vuitton Korea emphasized that no customer payment or financial data was exposed in the breach. The leaked data appears to be limited to:

  • Names
  • Contact information
  • Possibly purchase histories (unconfirmed)

The company is working closely with cybersecurity professionals to assess the full scope and impact of the incident.

Other LVMH Brands Also Under Investigation

The incident follows similar data protection investigations into other LVMH Group brands in South Korea. The Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) confirmed that:

  • Christian Dior Couture Korea and Tiffany & Co. Korea have been under government investigation since May 2025
  • The investigations are related to separate customer data leaks reported earlier this year

These developments highlight growing scrutiny over data privacy compliance among international luxury brands operating in South Korea.

Strengthening Customer Data Protection

Louis Vuitton Korea has assured its customers that it is taking the incident seriously and working to:

  • Prevent future breaches
  • Maintain compliance with South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)
  • Restore customer trust through transparency and rapid response

What Customers Should Do

Although financial data was not compromised, customers who made recent purchases or signed up for online services with Louis Vuitton Korea should:

  • Be cautious of phishing emails or suspicious messages
  • Monitor personal accounts for unusual activity
  • Contact the brand’s customer service for further information
