Adamawa State Partners with NIGCOMSAT for Satellite Broadcasting Expansion
In a major step toward digital transformation, the Adamawa State Ministry of Information and Strategy has signed a landmark satellite broadcasting service agreement with the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT).
The deal, signed under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s Adamawa 2.0 agenda, will see Adamawa State lease 2MHz on the Ku-band of NIGCOMSAT-1R satellite. This capacity will guarantee reliable coverage, high availability, and extended reach for Adamawa Television (ATV), enabling the station’s broadcast footprint to cover a larger part of Africa.
A Milestone in Adamawa’s Digital Transformation
Speaking during the signing, Hon. Iliya James, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, described the development as a milestone in modernising state-owned media.
“This collaboration with NIGCOMSAT is a big leap in our quest to reposition Adamawa Television for digital broadcasting. With this agreement, we are expanding our reach, deepening access to information, and showcasing Adamawa to the rest of Africa,” he said.
The project underscores Governor Fintiri’s vision to use digital innovation and e-governance as tools for state development.
