Chowdeck Surpasses 2 Million Users, Marks Major Growth in Nigerian Food Delivery Sector
Nigerian food delivery startup Chowdeck has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 2 million registered users, just one year after reaching 1 million. The announcement was made by CEO and Co-founder Femi Aluko via an X post on Monday, highlighting the rapid growth of digital food delivery in Nigeria.
“Yesterday, @chowdeck crossed 2 million registered users! It has been a year since I tweeted that we crossed a million users. We have come a long way since then,” Aluko stated.
User Growth and Operational Scaling
The milestone follows a period of significant expansion for Chowdeck. After crossing 1 million orders in October 2025, the platform’s daily order volume increased from 30,000 to over 40,000, and continues to climb.
Operating in Nigeria’s competitive market presents challenges, including costs, logistics, and infrastructure bottlenecks. However, Aluko credited the company’s growth to consistent service, improved operations, and customer trust:
“We have learnt even more over the last year as we more than doubled every part of our network. Again, I am really grateful to our team, customers, riders, and partners for coming on this journey with us.”
Chowdeck’s Evolution Since Launch
Launched in 2021, Chowdeck began as a small platform connecting customers, restaurants, and riders. Over time, it has evolved into a robust logistics network, enabling faster delivery, enhanced customer experience, and operational efficiency. The platform is now on track to achieve 1 million monthly orders.
Growth has been supported by Nigeria’s rising smartphone adoption and the increasing demand for convenience among working-class Nigerians seeking quick meal options.
Record-Breaking Big Black Friday Performance
Chowdeck’s recent Big Black Friday event demonstrated the platform’s scaling capabilities, recording N1.4 billion in transactions across Nigerian and Ghanaian markets. Key performance highlights include:
- 183,000+ orders delivered
- 52,000+ orders on Friday alone (record single-day volume)
- Peak of 115 orders per minute
- 5,000+ orders per hour sustained for 5 consecutive hours
- 727,000+ kilometres covered by riders
- Highest rider earnings: N205,000 in a single day
- Fastest delivery: 1 minute 30 seconds
- 2.5 million app visits during the period
Restaurant partners, including Chicken Republic and hundreds of local vendors, processed thousands of orders, with many reporting record single-day volumes.
Chowdeck and the Future of Nigeria’s Digital Economy
Chowdeck’s growth highlights the potential for local startups to scale digital services that meet daily consumer needs in Nigeria and beyond. By leveraging technology, logistics, and customer-centric strategies, the company has demonstrated that homegrown platforms can thrive in a competitive digital economy while achieving regional expansion.
With 2 million users and record-breaking sales events, Chowdeck continues to cement its position as one of Nigeria’s leading food delivery and logistics platforms, setting new benchmarks for local digital startups.
