2025 Build-A-Thon Holiday Tech Camp Announced by FG for Nigerian Children
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially announced the 2025 edition of the Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp, a hands-on technology learning program for children aged 10 to 18 years. The program, organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, is designed to introduce young Nigerians to essential digital and STEM skills.
The camp will begin on Monday, August 4, 2025, and is set to run across Abeokuta, Abuja (FCT), and Kano, with more cities expected to be added in future editions.
What is the Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp?
The Build-A-Thon Holiday Camp is one of the Ministry’s flagship youth empowerment initiatives, focusing on:
- Coding
- Robotics
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- DIY tech projects
- Project-based learning
Children attending the camp will participate in hands-on sessions, use DIY kits, and engage with real-world technology labs—designed to foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Ministerial Announcement
The announcement was made by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“From Monday, 4th August, we are inviting children aged 10 to 18 to spend their holidays learning, building, and bonding with peers from across Nigeria,” he stated.
Dr. Tijani emphasised that the initiative aims to create a maker culture where children learn by doing and are inspired to become future innovators.
Why the 2025 Build-A-Thon Matters
- Over 2,000 children are expected to participate in this year’s camp.
- The 2024 edition trained over 5,000 children across cities like Abeokuta, Maiduguri, and Owerri.
