The Federal Ministry of Education has announced a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide free digital skills training and certification to students and educators across federal, state, and private tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
This initiative supports the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at expanding access to 21st-century digital competencies and enhancing the country’s educational system through technological empowerment.
What the AWS Digital Skills Programme Offers
According to the Ministry, the programme will equip beneficiaries with in-demand digital skills, including:
- Cloud computing
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Machine Learning (ML)
- Big data and analytics
- AWS platform usage and certification
“The Federal Ministry of Education has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a free digital skills programme for students and educators, covering cloud computing, AI, machine learning, and more,” the Ministry stated via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
100% Free Certification for Students and Educators
One of the highlights of the partnership is that certification costs are fully covered, with funding jointly provided by the Ministry and AWS.
“The best part? Certification is 100% free, split between the Ministry and AWS,” the announcement noted.
This move is expected to improve employability, boost innovation, and prepare Nigeria’s youth for global digital job markets.
Implementation Already Live in 43 Institutions
