Flutterwave Processes Nearly $1 Billion in Africa–Asia Transactions in H1 2025

Flutterwave, Africa’s largest payments technology company, announced that it processed close to $1 billion in transactions between Africa and Asia during the first half of 2025.

The milestone was revealed in the company’s H1 2025 financial highlights released on Tuesday, underscoring its rapid growth, global expansion, and strategic partnerships with major East Asian payment firms.

Strategic Partnerships Driving Growth

Flutterwave attributed its Africa–Asia transaction surge to collaborations with key players such as Norafirst and Skyee, enabling the fintech to strengthen its presence in cross-border payments and expand its global remittance network.

The company’s cross-continental payment capabilities have positioned it as a leading African fintech connecting emerging markets to Asia’s thriving business and remittance corridors.

Strong Financial and Operational Gains

In H1 2025, Flutterwave reported significant financial improvements:

  • Monthly margins doubled by June compared to its 2024 average, driven by tighter cost control and efficiency strategies.
  • Enterprise payments saw a 20% year-on-year growth in total payment volume (TPV) due to increased focus on core business segments.

Founder and CEO Olugbenga “GB” Agboola emphasised the company’s disciplined growth approach:

“We’re not chasing vanity metrics. We’re building a company that outlasts the hype, scales with discipline, and puts African innovation at the center of the global economic map.”

Regulatory Expansion Strengthens Market Presence

Flutterwave secured 20 new U.S. Money Transmitter Licenses in H1 2025, bringing its total to 34, further enhancing its ability to operate in the U.S. market.

In Africa, the fintech expanded its operations in Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and Zambia while completing its first group-wide audit, aligning with international financial reporting standards.

New Partnerships Fuel Product Expansion

Beyond the  Africa–Asia corridors, Flutterwave forged multiple strategic deals in 2025:

  • Partnered with Chapter AI to enhance social commerce for SMEs across 11 African countries.
  • Collaborated with Global Remit to extend its Send App remittance service to the UAE, UK, EU, and the U.S.
  • Teamed up with Circle to enable stablecoin settlements for enterprise merchants.

Send App Returns to Europe

A major development in H1 2025 was the return of Send App to Europe, reopening access to one of the largest African diaspora markets.

The World Bank projects remittance flows to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to reach $690 billion by 2025, highlighting the opportunity for fintechs like Flutterwave to capture a larger share of the remittance market.

Outlook for H2 2025

With strong transaction growth, expanded global partnerships, and a broader regulatory footprint, Flutterwave is positioning itself for sustained profitability and long-term dominance in African fintech.

Its continued focus on Africa–Asia and Africa–Europe payment corridors is expected to further cement its role as a key driver of cross-border financial innovation.
