If you own more than one Apple product, like an iPhone along with an iPad or Mac, you’ve likely noticed that calls and text notifications tend to appear on all your devices at the same time. While this feature highlights the seamless integration within Apple’s ecosystem, it may not always be ideal. You might be working on your Mac or watching a video on your iPad and suddenly get interrupted by your iPhone’s incoming call also ringing on those devices.
Apple designed this function to improve convenience — for example, you can answer a call on your iPad when your iPhone is out of reach. However, if you find this disruptive, you can stop these calls from reaching all your other devices.
Here’s a detailed guide on how to disable this feature:
How to Disable Cellular Calls from Reaching Other Apple Devices
Step 1: Unlock your iPhone and launch the Settings application.
Step 2: Use the search bar at the top and type in Phone, then tap on the Phone settings menu that appears.
Step 3: Scroll down within the Phone settings until you locate the Calls section.
Step 4: Tap on Calls on Other Devices.
Step 5: You’ll now see a list of your Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID. From here, you can choose specific devices to turn call notifications off, or you can disable the feature altogether by toggling off Allow Calls on Other Devices at the top.
Doing this will stop your iPad, Mac, or any other Apple hardware from ringing when your iPhone receives a call.
Important Note on FaceTime Calls
The toggle for Calls on Other Devices applies to both standard cellular calls and FaceTime calls. If you choose to disable this option, your iPad and Mac will no longer ring for either call type. If you still want FaceTime calls to reach other devices while disabling only cellular calls, you’ll need to keep the setting enabled and selectively disable devices instead of turning the feature off completely.
By following these steps, you can eliminate unwanted ringing across your devices while maintaining a focused and distraction-free environment.
