Huawei SA and Henley Business School Advance Women in Tech

Huawei South Africa, in collaboration with Henley Business School Africa, has wrapped up the fourth edition of the Women in Tech Digital Skills Training Programme. The initiative empowered 40 women entrepreneurs and senior government leaders with the skills and confidence to succeed in the fast-evolving digital economy.

A Growing Platform for Women in Digital Transformation

Launched in 2021, the Huawei Women in Tech initiative has become a powerful incubator for women eager to embrace technology. Over the years, more than 300 participants have successfully completed the programme.

The training blends hands-on leadership development with exposure to the latest digital innovations, equipping participants with tools to lead transformation in both the private and public sectors.

Government and Business Leaders Among Participants

This year’s cohort featured a diverse group of participants, including:

  • Women business owners are driving entrepreneurship.
  • Senior officials from key South African government institutions, such as:
    • Department of Employment and Labour (DoEL)
    • Department of Small Business Development (DSBD)
    • Department of Digital Technologies (DCDT)

By combining voices from business and government, the programme fosters cross-sector collaboration and strengthens South Africa’s digital ecosystem.

Driving Inclusive Growth in South Africa’s Digital Economy

The Women in Tech initiative aims to ensure women are not just participants but trailblazers in South Africa’s digital transformation journey. By equipping women with both leadership skills and digital expertise, the programme contributes to building a more inclusive and innovative economy.

Huawei South Africa emphasised that empowering women leaders is key to achieving long-term economic growth, digital inclusion, and sustainable development.

Conclusion

As South Africa continues its digital transformation, programmes like Huawei’s Women in Tech Digital Skills Training are vital in bridging gender gaps and unlocking new opportunities. With over 300 women already empowered and more to come, this initiative is shaping the next generation of female digital leaders.
