MTN Digital Infrastructure Secures 15-Year Licence to Expand Fibre Network Across South Sudan
MTN Digital Infrastructure, Africa’s leading digital infrastructure provider, has reached a major milestone in its mission to boost continental connectivity. Its South Sudan subsidiary, Bayobab Infra Solutions Ltd, has been granted a 15-year license by the National Communications Authority of South Sudan to construct, install, and operate electronic communications systems, effective 16 October 2025.
This license empowers MTN Infra Solutions to deploy and manage national and cross-border fibre networks, including:
- Terrestrial and satellite systems
- National and international leased circuits
- IP transit services
- High-capacity fibre connectivity across South Sudan
Strengthening the East-to-West Digital Corridor
The South Sudan license is a key step in the Project East 2 West (E2W) initiative, designed to establish a resilient digital corridor connecting East and West Africa. By introducing robust fibre infrastructure, MTN Digital Infrastructure aims to drive economic growth, foster digital inclusion, and spur innovation in South Sudan and the wider region.
