MTN Nigeria Ranked Best Mobile Internet Network in 2025
MTN Nigeria has been ranked as the mobile network with the best internet performance in Nigeria for 2025, edging out competitors Airtel Nigeria and Globacom.
This is according to a new analytical report released by nPerf, a France-based mobile internet speed testing and performance measurement platform.
nPerf Rankings for Nigeria in 2025
The report, titled Barometer of Mobile Internet Connections in Nigeria, analysed mobile internet performance across the entire year of 2025 using real-world user data.
According to the findings:
- MTN Nigeria: 37,106 nPoints
- Airtel Nigeria: 25,614 nPoints
- Globacom: 20,475 nPoints
The nPoints score reflects overall user experience across multiple performance indicators.
How the Networks Were Assessed
nPerf said the evaluation was based on subscribers’ real-life experiences, using speed test data generated directly by Nigerian users on its platform.
The assessment covered key performance metrics, including:
- Download speeds
- Upload speeds
- Latency
- Web browsing performance
- Video streaming quality
The analysis focused on tests conducted during busy hours (6:00 pm – 11:00 pm) and idle hours (the rest of the day) to reflect everyday usage conditions.
In terms of test distribution, MTN Nigeria accounted for 58% of all recorded tests, followed by Airtel Nigeria with 24%, and Globacom with 18%.

Fastest Download Speeds
MTN Nigeria topped the chart for average download speeds in 2025, recording 18.65 Mb/s.
- MTN Nigeria: 18.65 Mb/s
- Airtel Nigeria: 10.57 Mb/s
- Globacom: 7.46 Mb/s
The operator also led during both peak and off-peak periods, achieving 15.37 Mb/s during busy hours and 19.99 Mb/s during idle times, making it the preferred network for HD streaming and large downloads.
Best Upload Performance
MTN subscribers also enjoyed the fastest upload speeds in 2025.
- MTN Nigeria: 8.70 Mb/s
- Airtel Nigeria: 4.74 Mb/s
- Globacom: 3.85 Mb/s
During peak usage, MTN recorded an average upload speed of 7.43 Mb/s, rising to 9.12 Mb/s during idle hours.
Strongest Browsing and Streaming Experience
In browsing and streaming performance, MTN again led the industry, posting:
- Browsing performance: 35.78%
- Streaming performance: 67.02%
These results indicate superior performance for video streaming, media consumption, and general internet use.
Among competitors:
- Globacom recorded a browsing performance of 29.86%, followed closely by Airtel at 29.45%
- For streaming, Airtel ranked second with 62.50%, while Globacom recorded 52.44%
