Nvidia and Foxconn to Use Humanoid Robots at New AI Server Manufacturing Plant in Houston

Nvidia, the U.S.-based leader in AI chips, and Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant, are reportedly in advanced talks to deploy humanoid robots at a new Foxconn-run factory in Houston, Texas, set to produce Nvidia’s next-generation GB300 AI servers.

According to sources familiar with the matter, this would mark the first time Nvidia products are manufactured with the assistance of humanoid robots and would be Foxconn’s first AI server plant to implement such technology directly on the production line.

Humanoid Robot Deployment Set for Early 2026

The humanoid robot deployment is expected to begin in Q1 2026, coinciding with the factory’s scheduled launch of Nvidia GB300 AI server production.

While specific details on the design, type, or quantity of humanoid robots remain under wraps, insiders say Foxconn has been training the robots to handle key manufacturing tasks such as

  • Picking and placing components
  • Cable insertion
  • Product assembly

A Foxconn presentation from May 2025 revealed that its humanoid robots are being trained in these tasks to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce human labour requirements.

Foxconn’s In-House and Third-Party Humanoid Development

Foxconn is reportedly developing its own humanoid robots in collaboration with Nvidia while also testing units from Chinese robotics firm UBTech. Leo Guo, general manager of the Robotics Business Unit at Foxconn Industrial Internet, said in May that two versions of humanoid robots will be unveiled in November at Foxconn’s annual tech showcase:

  • A legged humanoid model
  • A wheeled AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) base version, which is expected to be more cost-effective

These robots are designed to support a variety of repetitive and precision-based manufacturing tasks, especially in high-tech, AI-focused facilities.

Why Houston is Ideal for Robotic Manufacturing

Foxconn’s Houston plant is particularly suited for robotic deployment because it is a brand-new facility with ample space and flexibility for next-gen automation. The Houston site is part of Nvidia’s broader plan to establish AI supercomputer production hubs in Texas, including a second site in Dallas operated by Wistron. Both sites are expected to ramp up production within 12–15 months, significantly boosting Nvidia’s hardware output to meet global AI demands.

Nvidia’s Broader Push into Humanoid Robotics

For Nvidia, this move is part of a larger strategy to deepen its footprint in the robotics and smart manufacturing space. The company already supplies humanoid robot developers with its Isaac robotics platform, a comprehensive suite of hardware and software tools used in the design and deployment of intelligent robots. In March 2025, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang predicted that humanoid robots would become standard in manufacturing environments within five years.

“We’re less than five years away from humanoid robots becoming commonplace on factory floors,” Huang said.

Nvidia’s use of humanoids in its own product manufacturing is a clear step toward realising that prediction.

Global Race for Humanoid Robot Integration

Nvidia and Foxconn aren’t alone in this pursuit. Other major players actively exploring humanoid integration include

  • Mercedes-Benz and BMW, which have piloted humanoid robots on automotive production lines
  • Tesla, which is developing its own humanoid robot, Optimus
  • China, which is heavily investing in humanoid robotics as part of its future manufacturing strategy

This shift signals a rapid transformation in factory automation, with humanoid robots positioned to replace or augment traditional labor in multiple industries

The planned deployment of humanoid robots at Foxconn’s Houston factory for Nvidia’s AI server production is a landmark development in the evolution of intelligent manufacturing.
