Vodacom Group Earns Africa’s Top Employer Title for 2025

Vodacom Group has been named Africa’s Top Employer for 2025, achieving an overall score of 99.56%, following a rigorous assessment of its human resources practices, workplace culture, and approach to ethical artificial intelligence.

The recognition was awarded by the Top Employers Institute, a global authority that benchmarks organisations on how effectively they align people strategy, employee experience, and HR frameworks with international best practices.

Third Consecutive Continental Win

The 2025 certification marks the third consecutive year Vodacom Group has received the Africa-wide Top Employer title, reinforcing its sustained focus on employee well-being, talent development, and organisational culture.

The evaluation covers 20 HR domains, including people strategy, talent acquisition, learning and development, leadership development, diversity and inclusion, and digital HR transformation.

Commenting on the achievement, Vodacom Group Chief Executive Officer Shameel Joosub described the award as a key milestone in the company’s long-term strategy.

“Not only is this testament to our consistency in leading with purpose, but it also shows that our people-centric approach and focus on talent development and workplace culture is impactful,” Joosub said, adding that the recognition supports the Group’s Vision 2030 ambitions.

Strong Performance Across African Operations

Beyond the Group-level award, several Vodacom and Safaricom operating companies were also individually certified as Top Employers in their respective markets.

  • Vodacom Mozambique recorded the highest score within the group at 99.96%
  • Vodacom South Africa achieved 99.88%
  • Vodacom Tanzania earned 99.76%
  • Safaricom Ethiopia and Safaricom Kenya both ranked first in their respective countries

Vodacom Group Chief Human Resources Officer Matimba Mbungela said the recognition reflects the company’s long-term commitment to building meaningful employee experiences that extend beyond the workplace.
