Xbox Game Camp Africa 2025: Empowering African Game Creators
Xbox Game Camp Africa is back for 2025, continuing its mission to grow the continent’s gaming ecosystem. This year’s edition, held in collaboration with ID@Xbox’s Developer Acceleration Program (DAP), will feature pre-selected professional game studios from across Africa.
A 12-Week Journey From Idea to Prototype
The program runs for 12 weeks, guiding teams through structured mentorship from Team Xbox experts. Participating studios will progress from initial game concepts to developing a working prototype or vertical slice, gaining practical knowledge and industry insights along the way.
Impact Since Launch
Since its inception, Xbox Game Camp Africa has trained more than 1,900 emerging game creators. One standout success is Kunta Content, a Kenyan studio whose debut title Hiru was shaped by lessons from the first two camps.
Recently, the studio unveiled a trailer for Hiru, showcasing the Masai Mara, the Congo, and desert landscapes. The visuals highlight both the cultural richness of Africa and the studio’s storytelling ambition.
“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO & Game Producer at Kunta Content. “This trailer is a testament to our team’s passion and the incredible support from Xbox, starting with Xbox Game Camp.”
Official Kickoff in Cape Town
The 2025 edition officially kicks off on December 4 in Cape Town, South Africa, as part of Africa Games Week. This partnership brings global visibility to African talent while strengthening the region’s role in the gaming industry.
