In a bold step toward digital transformation, the Zamfara State Government has signed a landmark agreement with Oracle to develop digital skills, empower young people, and build workforce capacity under the Oracle University Skills Development Initiative (SDI). The signing took place on April 29, 2025, at Oracle’s London offices.
The partnership, facilitated through the Zamfara Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), aims to provide cutting-edge technology education to youth across the state. Governor Dauda Lawal led the Zamfara delegation, alongside top officials and ZITDA leadership, with Oracle represented by Siobhan Wilson, Senior VP and UK Country Leader.
Key elements of the collaboration include:
Integration of Oracle Academy Resources: Oracle’s global education arm will support Zamfara’s higher institutions by offering curriculum, software access, and tools to educators and students, helping align classroom learning with in-demand tech skills.
Free Digital Learning and Certification: Through a co-branded portal with ZITDA, Oracle University will provide over 200 hours of free training in areas like Cloud, AI, Data Science, and APEX development, enabling learners to earn industry-recognized certifications.
Building Future-Ready Talent: The initiative aims to cultivate a new generation of tech-savvy professionals, positioning Zamfara as a hub for innovation and digital excellence.
Governor Lawal praised the partnership, calling it a “promise” to create opportunity and combat poverty through education and innovation. “We are not just signing a document,” he said. “We are making a promise that every child in Zamfara will have a fair chance to dream, to learn, and to succeed.”
This initiative marks a significant investment in the future of Zamfara’s youth and signals the state’s intent to lead in Nigeria’s digital economy.
