Google Selects 15 AI Startups for 2025 Africa Accelerator Program
In a major boost to Africa’s tech ecosystem, Google has announced 15 innovative startups for its Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa Class 9. This year’s focus is on AI-powered solutions addressing key challenges across sectors such as fintech, agritech, healthtech, and enterprise services.
Selected from nearly 1,500 applications, the startups come from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Senegal—a testament to the growing influence of AI in Africa’s startup ecosystem.
Empowering African Innovation with AI and Google Cloud
Launched in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa aims to empower bold, tech-driven African startups solving real-world problems. Since its inception, the program has:
- Supported 153 startups across 17 African countries
- Helped raise over $300 million in funding
- Facilitated the creation of over 3,500 jobs
The Class 9 accelerator runs from June 23 to August 22, 2025, in a hybrid format and offers participants:
- Mentorship from Google experts
- Training in AI/ML development, business growth, and leadership
- Technical support and up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits
- Exposure to investors, customers, and global tech partners
