Huawei and ICT Authority Launch Digital Skills Training in Siaya
Huawei, in partnership with the ICT Authority, has officially launched a five-day digital skills training program at the Siaya Community Digital Hub. The initiative is part of Kenya’s ongoing efforts to empower youth with essential digital competencies and build a future-ready workforce capable of driving the nation’s digital transformation.
The training, titled “Integrated Network Cabling & Huawei HCIA Datacom Fundamentals,” focuses on equipping participants with hands-on technical expertise in modern network infrastructure and data communication systems.
Empowering Kenya’s Youth Through Digital Education
This program is a key component of the broader goal to build Kenya’s digital superhighway, a cornerstone of the country’s Digital Economy Blueprint. By developing the skills needed to install, manage, and maintain advanced ICT networks, the initiative aims to strengthen Kenya’s position as a regional leader in technology and innovation.
Through the training, participants gain valuable knowledge applicable to careers in:
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
- Telecommunications
- Digital infrastructure management
- Network design and maintenance
The program not only enhances employability but also empowers young people to create and sustain local ICT solutions, contributing to Kenya’s growing knowledge-based economy.
Bridging the Digital Skills Gap
Huawei’s collaboration with the ICT Authority reflects a shared commitment to bridging the digital divide and fostering inclusive technological growth. By delivering high-quality ICT education through community digital hubs, the initiative ensures that youth from all regions, including rural counties like Siaya—have access to the same learning and employment opportunities as their urban counterparts.
“Our partnership with Huawei demonstrates our commitment to developing Kenya’s digital talent pipeline,” said an ICT Authority representative.
“By training young people in critical ICT skills, we’re not only preparing them for jobs of the future but also ensuring that communities benefit directly from Kenya’s digital transformation.”
Supporting Kenya’s Digital Transformation Agenda
The Siaya digital training program supports Kenya’s National Digital Master Plan (2022–2032), which emphasises ICT capacity building as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation.
By nurturing a skilled generation of network and data communication professionals, Huawei and the ICT Authority are helping Kenya achieve its vision of a connected, inclusive, and innovative digital economy.
The long-term goal is to replicate this program in other Community Digital Hubs across the country, extending the impact to thousands of youths and local entrepreneurs.
A Step Toward an Inclusive Digital Future
Through initiatives like this, Huawei continues to demonstrate its role as a strategic technology partner supporting Kenya’s digitalisation goals. The program reinforces the importance of public-private partnerships in building sustainable ICT ecosystems that benefit both individuals and communities.
By empowering Siaya’s youth with practical digital skills, Huawei and the ICT Authority are paving the way for a digitally empowered generation ready to lead Kenya into a connected future.
