Microsoft Nigeria Appoints Abideen Yusuf as General Manager; Olatomiwa Williams Takes on Regional AI Leadership Role

Microsoft has announced a major leadership transition for its West African operations. Abideen Yusuf has been named General Manager for Microsoft Nigeria and Ghana, succeeding Olatomiwa Williams, who has taken on a new role as Chief Growth and Artificial Intelligence Officer for Microsoft’s Middle East and Africa Growth Markets (MEAGM).

Yusuf and Williams officially disclosed the leadership changes via LinkedIn on Thursday.

Olatomiwa Williams, who joined Microsoft in 2010 and became Country Manager in 2021, reflected on her tenure: “Leading this team has been a unique experience, shaped by innovation, resilience, and a collective commitment to empowering every person and organisation to achieve more,” Williams shared.

She added: “Together, we have achieved tremendous growth, created lasting impact, and built a legacy of innovation and collaboration across Nigeria and Ghana.”

In her new position, Williams will drive artificial intelligence initiatives and growth strategies across key markets in the MEAGM region. Her educational background includes a degree in Computer Science from the Federal Polytechnic Offa and an MBA from the University of Liverpool.

Abideen Yusuf to Lead Microsoft’s Multi-Country Cluster (MCC) Region

Abideen Yusuf, before his promotion, served as Director of Enterprise Business for Commercial and Public Sector at Microsoft. As the new General Manager, Yusuf will oversee operations for the newly established Multi-Country Cluster (MCC), which covers Nigeria and Ghana.

His appointment underscores Microsoft’s continued investment in leadership talent to accelerate digital transformation and business growth in Africa’s expanding tech ecosystem.

Both leadership transitions highlight Microsoft’s broader strategy to leverage local expertise while scaling up AI-driven solutions across emerging markets in the Middle East and Africa.
