CAC Defends AI-Powered Intelligent Company Registration Portal (ICRP)
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a strong statement addressing recent efforts by individuals to discredit its new AI-powered Intelligent Company Registration Portal (ICRP). The CAC alleges that certain users have attempted to bypass the portal’s automated word and phrase selection features, a move that could compromise the integrity of Nigeria’s digital company registration system.
What Is the ICRP?
Launched as part of the CAC’s digital transformation strategy, the Intelligent Company Registration Portal is an AI-driven platform designed to streamline company name searches, documentation, and compliance checks during registration. The system leverages machine learning to enhance:
- Registration speed
- Data accuracy
- Regulatory compliance
The portal is intended to deliver a smart, user-friendly experience that evolves based on user interactions.
CAC Warns Against Sabotage and Misinformation
According to the Commission, the efforts to manipulate or undermine the platform are not only unproductive but also jeopardise the progress made in Nigeria’s corporate governance digitisation. The CAC warned members of the public not to fall victim to misinformation or be misled by individuals with hidden agendas. “We remain committed to refining the ICRP using authentic user feedback,” the CAC said in its press release.
The Commission emphasised that it welcomes genuine concerns aimed at improving the system but will not tolerate malicious activities intended to distort the platform’s performance or credibility.
Benefits of the AI-Driven ICRP
The CAC’s Intelligent Company Registration Portal aims to:
- Reduce human error in company name approvals
- Eliminate bottlenecks in corporate filings
- Enhance transparency in the registration process
- Promote ease of doing business in Nigeria
By adopting artificial intelligence in government services, Nigeria is joining a growing list of nations using AI to automate regulatory processes and improve public service delivery.
A Step Toward Smarter Corporate Governance in Nigeria
The CAC reiterated its long-term vision of building a transparent, automated, and data-driven corporate ecosystem in Nigeria. The Commission stated that digital innovation, not sabotage, is the future of public sector transformation.
With the continued development of the ICRP, the CAC encourages entrepreneurs, legal professionals, and corporate service providers to provide honest feedback that helps shape a more effective system for all users.
AI in Nigerian Governance Faces First Major Test
As Nigeria embraces AI-powered governance tools, the ICRP marks a major leap toward efficient company registration. However, its success will depend on public cooperation, regulatory oversight, and ongoing system improvement.
