Nigerian Police Debunks Recruitment Portal Opening, Says Viral Posts Are Fake
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has refuted claims circulating on social media that it has opened its recruitment portal for the 2025 intake into the Nigeria Police Force. The commission described the viral posts as fake, misleading, and an attempt by criminals to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement published on its official website on Monday, the PSC cautioned the public against engaging with the fraudulent links, noting that the intention of the scammers is to collect sensitive personal information from desperate job seekers.
“The general public is hereby informed that these publications are fake and entirely misleading. They are the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit innocent citizens,” the statement read.
Recruitment Portal Not Yet Open, PSC Confirms
The commission stressed that it has not opened any recruitment portal, nor has the 2025 recruitment exercise commenced. It assured Nigerians that once the process officially begins, the announcement will be made exclusively through authorised channels.
According to the PSC, only official platforms such as:
- Verified announcements on www.psc.gov.ng
- Broadcasts by authorised government bodies
- Advertisements in reputable national newspapers
- Formal press releases
will be used to communicate authentic recruitment information.
The commission urged the public to report any unlisted or unofficial recruitment portals to the police immediately.
Preparations for 2025 Police Recruitment Underway
While the portal remains closed, the PSC confirmed that preparatory activities for the 2025 recruitment exercise have already begun. On November 27, the commission announced that it had started implementing the Presidential directive to recruit 30,000 police officers, forming a Joint Ad-hoc Committee to coordinate the process.
The PSC noted that fraudsters are attempting to take advantage of the recruitment buzz and Nigeria’s high unemployment rate to deceive citizens.
“Any purported recruitment portal not published on the Commission’s official website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police accordingly.”
Civil Defence and Other Agencies Advance to Physical Screening Stage
While the Nigerian Police recruitment has not yet commenced, other security agencies are progressing in their 2025 recruitment processes.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services have moved to the fourth stage. Physical Screening and Document Verification.
During the earlier stage, which involved an online Computer-Based Test (CBT):
- 872,391 applicants participated
- 650,395 candidates scored between 41–100
- 142,697 candidates scored above 80, representing 25.4% of all candidates
Applicants who passed the CBT have begun receiving notifications for their physical screening dates and venues.
