NVIDIA Powers Meta and Oracle AI Data Centres with Spectrum-X Ethernet

NVIDIA has announced that Meta and Oracle are integrating its cutting-edge Spectrum-X™ Ethernet networking switches into their AI data centres.  The move marks a major step in building giga-scale AI factories, designed to handle the explosive growth of trillion-parameter models and generative AI workloads.

The adoption of NVIDIA Spectrum-X by Meta and Oracle underscores the industry’s shift toward open, accelerated networking architectures that deliver faster deployment, improved training efficiency, and reduced time to insights.

Transforming AI Infrastructure with Spectrum-X Ethernet

As AI models grow to trillions of parameters, the demand for high-performance networking has become critical. NVIDIA’s Spectrum-X Ethernet is engineered specifically for the AI factory era, interconnecting millions of GPUs into a single, unified computing system capable of training the world’s most advanced AI models.

Oracle Accelerates AI with NVIDIA Spectrum-X

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) will build giga-scale AI factories powered by the NVIDIA Vera Rubin architecture and Spectrum-X Ethernet.

According to Mahesh Thiagarajan, Executive Vice President of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure:

This collaboration ensures that Oracle’s cloud services remain optimised for high-speed, energy-efficient AI performance, setting new standards in scalability and reliability.

Meta Integrates Spectrum Ethernet into FBOSS

Meta will integrate NVIDIA Spectrum Ethernet switches into its networking infrastructure via the Facebook Open Switching System (FBOSS)—its proprietary software platform for managing and controlling network switches at scale.

This integration will streamline AI training deployment, enhance efficiency, and reduce latency across Meta’s expansive AI infrastructure.

Gaya Nagarajan, Vice President of Networking Engineering at Meta, explained:
