The Airtel Africa Foundation has launched applications for its DigiLeap Tech Drive, a flagship initiative aimed at equipping young women with in-demand digital and technical skills.
The programme, delivered in partnership with Airtel Nigeria, will accept applications until May 8, 2026, targeting 200 underserved women in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Designed to bridge the gender gap in the digital economy, the initiative offers intensive, industry-standard training at no cost, alongside mentorship and job placement opportunities.
The DigiLeap Tech Drive is being implemented through a multi-stakeholder collaboration involving the ISHK Tolaram Foundation and Co-Creation Hub, with execution led by the SAIL Innovation Lab.
Speaking on the initiative, Segun Ogunsanya said the programme is part of a broader mission to drive digital and gender inclusion across Africa.
“Our goal is to ensure that the digital revolution is inclusive. DigiLeap is not just a training programme, but a pipeline designed to transition participants into internships and sustainable careers,” he said.
Also commenting, Dinesh Balsingh emphasised the importance of empowering women with digital skills as a catalyst for economic growth.
“This initiative creates a pathway for young women in underserved communities to move from the margins into the core of the digital workforce. When women lead in technology, entire communities benefit,” he said.
Open to women aged 18 to 35 residing in Ikorodu, the programme focuses on building practical skills that enhance employability and entrepreneurship, while addressing youth unemployment and the underrepresentation of women in tech.
With the application portal now live, the DigiLeap Tech Drive is expected to play a critical role in shaping the next generation of female tech talent in Nigeria.
