Nigeria Advances Digital Inclusion with Nationwide Awareness Forum

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is taking a major step toward building an inclusive digital economy with the launch of the Digital Economy Awareness and Sensitisation Fora, scheduled for November 13, 2025.

The inaugural event, themed “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” aims to bridge policy and infrastructure gaps while fostering collaboration among key players in Nigeria’s fast-growing digital ecosystem.

According to the NCC, the forum will serve as a strategic platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to discuss frameworks for inclusive digital growth, accessibility, and affordability across the country.

Driving Nigeria’s Digital Transformation Agenda

The forum will explore strategies to design inclusive digital policies, deploy accessible infrastructure, and enhance digital literacy for underserved communities.

Given that Africa’s youth represent 60% of the under-25 demographic, with Nigeria contributing a significant portion, the NCC is leveraging this potential to promote digital empowerment and ensure equitable access for all citizens.

The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS), which emphasises innovation, job creation, and broad-based inclusion as key pillars for sustainable growth.

Collaboration Across the Digital Ecosystem

Recognising that digital inclusion requires multi-stakeholder effort, the NCC has partnered with several public and private sector organisations to deliver the awareness campaign.

Key collaborators include:

  • Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF)
  • National Orientation Agency (NOA)
  • National Council of Women Societies (NCWS)
  • Association of Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ATCON)
  • FintechNGR
  • Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)
  • Terra Industries
  • Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI)
  • Secondary Education Board (SEB)
  • Nigerian University Commission (NUC)
  • Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONWAD)
  • Imose Technologies
  • National Board for Technical Education (NBTE)

This collaborative approach underscores the NCC’s commitment to bridging digital divides by involving regulators, academia, innovators, and civil society organisations in shaping Nigeria’s digital transformation.

Showcasing Nigeria’s Digital Innovation

The event will feature panel discussions, innovation exhibitions, and interactive sessions highlighting the contributions of startups, fintech organisations, and students in advancing Nigeria’s digital landscape.

These exhibitions will spotlight homegrown technologies, digital literacy initiatives, and solutions for inclusive participation, reinforcing the need for local innovation in driving national development.

To ensure nationwide participation, the event will be live-streamed via a dedicated portal at scf.ncc.gov.ng, enabling citizens across the country to join the conversation on digital inclusion.

Empowering a Digitally Inclusive Future

Through this forum, the NCC is reaffirming its mission to build a sustainable, inclusive, and equitable digital economy where no one is left behind.

By promoting awareness, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships, Nigeria is advancing toward a digitally empowered future that supports economic growth, youth empowerment, and social inclusion.
