AUATON Partners with Wema Bank to Offer Financial Services and Loans for E-Hailing Drivers

AUATON Teams Up with Wema Bank to Boost Financial Access for E-Hailing Drivers

The Lagos Council of the Amalgamated Union of App-based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON) has announced a strategic partnership with Wema Bank to provide e-hailing drivers with tailored financial services aimed at improving income and access to credit.

The announcement was made in a statement by Comrade Azeez Jaiyesimi, State Chairman of AUATON, who said the collaboration is designed to simplify banking for drivers and make financial resources more accessible.

Benefits of the AUATON-Wema Bank Partnership

The partnership provides several advantages for registered AUATON members, including:

  • Low-interest loans and CNG loans for vehicles
  • Income from car headrest advertising
  • Free POS services
  • Quick loans and SME loans
  • Loans for solar inverters
  • Discounted business name registration
  • Car insurance and renewal services
  • AUATON customised ATM debit cards that double as ID cards and offer access to school fees loans

“We are excited to announce that AUATON and Wema Bank have partnered to simplify financial services for all AUATON members. This collaboration aims to enhance our banking experience and provide greater accessibility to financial resources,” Jaiyesimi said.

How Drivers Can Register

Drivers can register via the AUATON Wema Bank Registration link, providing:

  • BVN (Bank Verification Number)
  • NIN (National Identification Number)
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Existing Wema Bank customers do not need to open a new account. Any current account holders will be identified automatically but remain eligible for all benefits.

After account creation, drivers will set up an ALAT Channel profile, using default credentials sent to their email and phone for initial sign-up.

Supporting Drivers Amid Economic Challenges

The partnership is part of AUATON’s ongoing efforts to provide drivers with alternative income streams amid declining revenues and low fare rates.

In December 2025, the union also launched a LED car roof advertising scheme, fitting participating vehicles with high-tech LCD roof displays for brand campaigns and advertisements.

“The LED car roof advert display is giving car owners the unique opportunity to turn their vehicles into income-generating assets. Drivers can earn between ₦70,000 and ₦150,000 monthly while driving their usual routes,” Jaiyesimi explained.

Driving Financial Stability for E-Hailing Drivers

The union’s initiatives aim to help drivers maximise earnings, earn passive income, and achieve financial stability, particularly during the financially demanding Yuletide season.

Beyond advocacy for better welfare from e-hailing companies, AUATON is actively implementing solutions to increase drivers’ earning potential, including financial partnerships, car advertising schemes, and access to low-cost loans.

With the Wema Bank partnership now in place, Lagos e-hailing drivers have new avenues to manage finances, invest in their vehicles, and improve overall income stability.
