Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga “GB” Agboola Appointed as Jury Member for Inaugural Money20/20 Awards

Flutterwave founder and CEO, Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, has been appointed as a jury member for the Payments Award category at the inaugural Money20/20 Awards, a newly launched global program celebrating innovation and excellence in the fintech and financial services sectors.

This prestigious appointment places Agboola among a select group of global leaders from top financial technology firms, including Mastercard, Adyen, Stripe, GCash, Checkout.com, Nium, and Global Payments Inc.

Flutterwave’s Global Influence in the Payments Industry

As the CEO of Flutterwave, Africa’s leading payments technology company, Agboola’s recognition reflects the growing international influence of African fintech. His role as a jury member further cements Flutterwave’s relevance in the global digital payment ecosystem.

The Money20/20 Awards jury is described by event organisers as comprising “experts straight from the biggest names in the game” with “sharp eyes, high standards, and a serious flair for spotting brilliance.” Their collective expertise will shape the selection of winners across several key categories, culminating in a live awards ceremony at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas this October.

A Trailblazer in African Fintech and Beyond

Agboola’s appointment is the latest in a series of international recognitions. He was recently named to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art Advisory Board, a position that reflects his dedication to promoting African excellence across sectors such as finance, culture, and business.

In addition, he serves as Vice Chair of the U.S.-Africa Business Centre Board and represents Flutterwave in prominent organisations like the Milken Institute’s Africa Leaders Business Council. These roles highlight Agboola’s expanding influence as a global leader at the intersection of technology, finance, and international development.

Recognizing African Excellence on the Global Stage

This latest honour affirms the increasing global recognition of Africa’s contributions to innovation in payments, technology, and entrepreneurship. Agboola’s inclusion among world-class peers not only enhances Flutterwave’s stature but also amplifies the visibility of African-led innovation on the global stage.
