Nigeria Commissions Digital Innovation Park to Drive $1 Trillion Tech-Driven Economy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially commissioned the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Digital Innovation Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State, marking a major step toward achieving a $1 trillion digital economy. Spearheaded by the Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, the new facility is part of the broader Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A Hub for Innovation and Youth Empowerment

At the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Tijani described the state-of-the-art park as “a catalyst for change,” offering high-speed internet, co-working spaces, digital training, and entrepreneurial resources to empower Nigerian youth. “This facility is not just a building; it’s a catalyst for change. We urge our young people to take full advantage of the opportunities it offers,” said Dr. Tijani.

The park is designed to nurture startups, digital skills, and tech-driven solutions, reflecting the government’s commitment to building a digitally empowered society and positioning Nigeria as a global leader in innovation.

Key Features of the NCC Digital Innovation Park

  • High-speed internet connectivity
  • Co-working and collaborative spaces

  • Support for apprenticeships and industrial training

These features are aligned with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) and form part of the strategic vision of both Dr. Bosun Tijani and the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida.

“These parks are equipped to serve as innovation launchpads and community catalysts,” said Dr. Maida.
“We’ve staffed them with skilled personnel and included training opportunities for students and young professionals.”

Ogun State’s Commitment to Digital Transformation

Prince Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, highlighted the park’s significance to the state’s future:

“The establishment of the Digital Innovation Park aligns with our vision to create an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship,” Governor Abiodun stated.
“We believe this facility will play a significant role in nurturing talent and driving Ogun State’s economic transformation.”

The park is expected to evolve its surrounding community into one of Africa’s next major tech clusters, driving inclusive growth and youth employment.
