Samsung Galaxy S25 Battery Outlasts iPhone and Pixel—Twice the Lifespan, Says EU Report

A recent European Union mandate requiring greater transparency around smartphone batteries has revealed surprising results. According to the new standardised battery label now rolling out across the EU, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series delivers double the battery longevity of its top competitors—Apple’s iPhones and Google’s Pixel 9 series.

What Does Battery Longevity Mean?

Before jumping to conclusions, it’s important to understand what the EU label measures. This isn’t about how long a smartphone lasts on a single charge, which depends on usage and battery capacity. Instead, the label rates battery endurance in charging cycles—the number of full charge-and-discharge cycles a phone can endure before its battery health drops below 80%.

A typical smartphone today is expected to survive around 1,000 charging cycles, or approximately 2.5–3 years of daily charging. However, Samsung has raised the bar significantly.

Samsung Leads with 2,000 Battery Cycles

According to the EU label data, the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S24 FE are all rated to last 2,000 full charging cycles. That translates to an estimated battery lifespan of over 5 years with daily charging—a major leap in smartphone durability.

This advancement places Samsung far ahead of its top rivals:

  • Apple iPhones (all models): 1,000 cycles
  • Google Pixel 9 series: 1,000 cycles
  • OnePlus 13 series: 1,400 cycles
  • OPPO A series: up to 1,600 cycles

Why This Matters

Battery health is one of the key reasons smartphones become unusable or sluggish over time. A battery rated for 2,000 cycles will last longer before needing replacement, reducing electronic waste, extending the useful lifespan of the device, and offering better value for money.

With this move, Samsung not only shows technical leadership but also positions itself as an eco-conscious and consumer-friendly brand in a market where repairability and sustainability are becoming increasingly important.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to the EU’s push for transparency, consumers can now make smarter choices based on how long their phone batteries will last. Right now, the Galaxy S25 series leads the pack, setting a new industry standard for battery durability.
