Apple Appoints Sabih Khan as New Chief Operating Officer in Executive Reshuffle

Apple Names Sabih Khan as New COO in Key Leadership Transition

Apple Inc. has announced the appointment of Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), marking a significant leadership transition at the world’s most valuable tech company. The move is part of a long-planned succession strategy and reflects Khan’s deep roots in Apple’s operational success over the past three decades.

Khan replaces Jeff Williams, who will continue in a transitional role through the end of the year.

Who Is Sabih Khan? Apple Veteran with 30 Years of Experience

Sabih Khan has been with Apple for 30 years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Operations. He joined Apple’s procurement division in 1995 and has been instrumental in building and managing the company’s global supply chain — a core element of Apple’s operational excellence.

Khan’s Career Highlights:

  • Joined Apple in 1995 in procurement
  • Currently Senior VP of Operations
  • Previously worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader
  • Known for overseeing Apple’s massive global manufacturing and logistics operations

Apple confirmed that Khan will officially assume the COO role later this month.

Jeff Williams to Remain Until Retirement, Will Oversee Design Team

Jeff Williams, who has served as COO since 2015, will remain at Apple through the end of the year. During the transition period, Williams will continue to report directly to CEO Tim Cook and oversee both the Apple Watch business and the design team.

Notably, after Williams retires, Apple’s design team will begin reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook, reflecting another shift in the company’s executive structure.

Strategic Succession Planning at Apple

Apple’s announcement underscores the company’s emphasis on stability and long-term leadership development. With Khan’s appointment, Apple is maintaining its tradition of promoting from within, ensuring continuity in its operational vision and execution.

Khan’s promotion is seen as a vote of confidence in his ability to manage complex global operations, especially as Apple continues expanding its manufacturing presence in regions outside of China, such as India and Vietnam.
