Kenyan payment solutions provider Cellulant has entered the Egyptian market after securing a business license, marking a significant expansion in North Africa. Operating across 19 African countries, Cellulant aims to leverage its digital payment solutions, including collections and disbursements, to support both B2B and B2C transactions for global and regional merchants within Egypt and internationally.

With Egypt’s recent regulatory shifts encouraging instant payments and the rapid growth of fintech, the nation’s payments landscape is transforming. A 2022 Mastercard New Payment Index report highlighted that 88% of Egyptians have used alternative payment methods, a trend that continues to grow and shift consumer expectations toward seamless, efficient payment options.

Cellulant’s Group CEO, Akshay Grover, emphasized the strategic importance of Egypt in the MENA region, expressing enthusiasm about the company’s newly established presence in the market. This move positions Cellulant to tap into Egypt’s growing demand for diverse digital payment solutions, supporting businesses as they adapt to evolving customer preferences.
